1. Debrecen Ball Bearing Factors
a. Origin of machinery: 2 from remainder from the USSR,
East Germany, and. Czechoslovakia.
b. Production in 1952 about 1,000 ball bearings.
c. Current production about 10-1.5,000 per month. The new material supplied
is good enough to manufacture bearings of II and III
class quality.
d. Workshops : in the Cavalry Barracks, Szeeheriyi. ut 59, Debrecen.
The new factory is still under construction, near the
new public cemetery in the vicinity of the streetcar
terminal, at the end of Csap6 St'eet.
e. Manpower is mostly drawn from among the local peasantry. For weeks the factory
has been advertizing in Magy Nemzet, etc. for turners of category VI and
VII (i.e. the highest). Some of the advertizibments have stated the name of
the factory, others have not.
f. In October 1953, negotiations with Maszoi.aj were in progress for obtaining
2,500 cu. m. of earth gas from the earth gas well of Biharnagybajom. The
ball bearing factory would like to obtain this supply by the summer of 1954-
2. Arms Production
a. Gun barrels are manufactured in the DicSsgySr Heavy Machine Tools Factory in the
follo*ing sizes: 37 mm. (originally to have been made in Poland), 1+7 mm)
57 mm, 85 mm., 122 mm howitzers with 6 m. barrels, 152 mm. Soviet-type barrels.
b. This factory also manufactures ammunition for the 37 mm.-type (1200 m/sec.
muzz1b velocity) guns. The technical specifications are in Russian, and both
in the original and in the translation mistakes have been made which increasAe
the difficulty of manufacture.
c. Gun carriages for gun barrels manufactured in Diosgy5r are manufactured at
Gy8r.

d. Cartridges for small arms are made at:
1 Danuvia Works, in Budapest.
(2) Metal Goods and Machine Tools Factory, Soroksari ut
(for long and drum magazines), in Budapest.
MVeszprem Munitions Factory
Jobbagyi "Andesite" Works.
e. Grenades are produced at:
(1) Sirok, in the factory at the Recske end of the village
in a tunnel driven into the mountainside.
(2) Press and Stamping Factory, north of TSrtkbAlint.
f. Guide rings for projectiles or firearms (Ft.hrungsringe ftr Geschosse)
made of sinter iron; and"videa messer" are manufactured in the Iron Dust
Foundry (Por Kovacs Gyar) further north up the valley (sic.).
g. The office responsible for the production of material for the artillery is
a section of the Ministry for Metallurgy and Machine Industry, at Teleki
P,1 u. 7, 1st and 2nd floor, in Budapest.
