MEMORANDUM FOR: Assistant Director for Special Activities
SUBJECT: U-2 Kill Probability
1. Enclosed are the preliminary results of a vulnerability
investigation of the U-2 aircraft. Computer simulation of the
SA-2 warhead and fuze complex and vulnerability modeling of the
aircraft were performed by personnel of the Ballistic Research
Laboratories at the request of and in coordination with OSI.
2. A formal study detailing the final results, along with the
associated technical input data will be provided within one month.
3. The two enclosed graphs present kill probabilities (single
shot) as a function of miss distance for both the SAC (J57 engine)
and Agency (J75 engine) configurations.
