EXCERPT FROM JOURNAL.
OFFICE OF LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL
Monday - 11 February 1963
2. I I Met with Boyd Crawford to discuss
the content of the Director's briefing of House Foreign Affairs Committee
on 19 Febu- ate. Originally Dr. Morgan had requests c e _Dire`ct_o_r -to"
discuss Cuba. With so much material in the press and the DCI's public
statement and McNarnara's TV presentation, Mr. Crawford requested us
to deal with the export of subversion and communism from Cuba as well
as the basic communist penetration in all of Latin America. This also
would serve to blunt Selden's request that the Agency meet with his Sub-
committee to discuss communism in Latin America. Selden's request
as Chairman of the Inter-American Affairs Subcommittee has not officially
been made to the Agency and the staff is working with us and Dr. Morgan
to avoid this. Dr. Morgan indicated yesterday that he would arrange to
prevent this coming to issue with the Agency. I further requested Crawford
to give us a written statement of what they would like the DCI to cover.
