Stansfield Turner Director, Central Intelligence Agency Washington, DC 20505 You may have learned about The Business Council from your predecessors at the Central Intelligence Agency, and I feel sure that a quick glance through the enclosed mem- bership list will bring to mind many friends and acquaint- ances. The Chairman of the Council, John deButts, has asked that I extend his personal invitation to you and Mrs.. Turner to be guests of The Business Council when it meets in May at The Homestead in Hot Springs, Virginia. Over the years, it has developed into almost standard operating procedure that the current Director of Central Intelligence be in- vited to our Hot Springs meetings, and I must admit that most of them have attended faithfully and have told me how much they have enjoyed the sessions and how valuable the discussions were. Dick Helms, one of our long-standing regulars, could, I feel sure, fill you in further if you wanted to touch base with him. EDMUND W. LITTLEFIELD J. N.W. LADIES' PROGRAMS BRIDGE TOURNAMENT There will be an informal tournament in the Writing Room, adjoining the Tower Lounge, on Friday afternoon, May 13th, beginning at 2:00 p.m. The play will run until about 4:30 p.m. and favors will be awarded. COFFEE HOUR Coffee, tea and pastries will be available for the ladies in the Tower Lounge on Friday and Saturday mornings at 9:30 a.m. GOLF There will be prizes for the ladies, without an entry fee, using the Caloway System to determine the winners. It is a proven and workable system and it makes all scores very close, tending to favor neither the low nor the high handicap player. All cards for complete rounds of play on any of the courses on Friday only should be filled out legibly and turned in to the Council staff in the Valley Room immediately upon completion of play. If the cards are turned in all at one time just prior to the dinner, there simply is not enough time or manpower to make the calculations and announce the prizes that evening. It is of the utmost importance that starting times be arranged in advance. As the Upper Cascades is a favorite with the ladies, we reserve starting times for 16 players (4 foursomes) at convenient hours on both Friday and Saturday mornings. If you want to make use of these times, call the Upper Cascades starter, mention The Business Council, tell him when you want to play, and he will make every effort to accommodate you. MORNING PROGRAMS On Friday and Saturday mornings, special programs exclusively for the ladies will be presented in the Homestead Theatre on the lower level. These will begin on both days at 10:30 a.m. and the full details are listed in the social events schedule. TENNIS There will be informal competition for the ladies on Friday morning. All those who wish to participate are asked to sign up with the tennis professional at The Homestead, Mr. Pat Haynes, before 10 o'clock on Friday morning, May 13th. There will not be a tournament on Saturday morning, May 14th, but tennis courts will be held in the name of The Business Council for those ladies who would like to play.
