(LISTED BELOW) SUPPLEMENT TO REPORT NO. Under Chinese Communist direction, the Panchen Lama has organized the Self Defense Corps of the Rear (sic)* Tibet People's Government. The corps consists of 300 personal guards for the Panchen Lama and 700 men of Pangto-to-chi's militia.** The commander is CBI P'u-mei ( )***, andPang-ta-to-chi is deputy commander. 2. The corps has been seeking instructions and financial aid from the Chinese Communist government in eiping. Once an agreement had been reached with the Chinese Communists, the Panchen Lama planned to leave for Tibet by way of a northern route through Sikang Province. 3. The Chinese Communists appointed about thirty political wor..ers and twenty students from the Longolian ana Tibetan .affairs School, Peiping, and the School of Frontier Affairs to participate in the .bear Tibet reople?s Government. .
