a. Status ^:nd location of columns:
(1) Column No 2 in I'rani,furt/Odor (0 531V 63) continues to operate and
will be merged vith Locoz~otivc Columns IJos X 95 and 8 into a croup
comp rising 100 to 120 locomotives. This croup -.,rill handle trains
as far as the ,3ov' et border. (1)
(2) The deactivation of Column No 3 in BerlinPrnicow vas completed by
o d N N 1 September 1950. After being prepared for storage the locomotives
-S of this column are kept cold near Ruednitz (1J 53/Z 97) Marshaling
m q- F Yard. They are ,Guarded by a detail of 11 men. ( )
3) Colua:ux No 5 in Frankfurt/Oder continues to operate. (1)

(4) The deactivation of Column No 7 in BerlinKarlshorst was completed
N by 1 September 1950. Its locomotives are being kept cold and guarded

(7) Column IIo 13 in Seddin (1 53/Z 52) is scheduled for deactivation dur-
ing September. The first steps have already been taken. (5)

do Railroadmen from Berlin are not considered desirable for these
columns but they were free to volunteer for transfer to Frarnkfurt/Oder. (3)
e. All the locomotives to be l:cpt cold were thoroughly oiled and overhauled.
They could be ready for use in one or two days. Only the two connecting
rods were dismantled and they can be refitted in about three hours. (9)
f. After the overhauling was completed the personnel of the deactivated loco-
motive columns who were from Berlin or Dresden were allowed to return to
their previous railroad offices but have to be ready for duty on call. (8)
In case they were not available a substitute had to be made available
within three days.
2. Locomotive Column No 3 in Berlin -Pankow. was deactivated on 2 September 1950.
Its personnel was assigned to the Pankow railroad shop. The locomotives are
being kept cold in Pankow,, but their transfer to another railroad station
is planned. (2)
3. Six locomotives of Locomotive Column No 12, comprising type 50 and 52 loco--
motives, loft Angermuende (14 54/Q 20) headed for Strasburg at 6:30 p.m. on

ber 1950. It will handle railroad traffic with the people's democracies
in Southeastern urope within the framework of concluded trade agreements. (11)
Column No 4 of the Berlin regional railroad headquarters was deactivated on
12 August 1950. Railroadmen from Berlin wore transferred to their previous
places of work. Ilowevor, the column will be reactivated and transferred to
Frankfurt/Odor. Railroadmen from Berlin will not be employed in this column.
It is believed that only Corm unist-lino r .lroacien will be accepted. (12)
