I. On 24 August, 170 Chinese -:epresenting 119 local* Chinese organizations
met at the Burns Chinese Chamber of Commerce to discuss the rece;: pion for
the new Chinese Communist Ambassador to Burma. HSU Foa.minq a China
Democratic League (Burma) (CDL(F3)) Adviser and CHIEN Fai-chleng, "'ecretary
General of the CDL(B);, of; iciated as Chairman and secretary respectivel,rr
a, All. Chinese school s, office and business premises should close for
one day?
b. All motor vehicles should carry certificates and flags provided by
the Burma Chinese Chamber of Comrrerr,,a
c. The Flying '"nee?. Automobile Association in conjunction viith the
Ho :'heng Fociety should be responsible for the control of traffic.
d. Five representatives from, the CDL(B) and one each from the Burma
Chinese Chamber of Commerce, the Fukienese Association and the
Cantonese Association, should formally welcome the new Ambassador
at the wharf.
e. The Ambassador should be taken on a tour of the Chinese area of R n oon
before being taken to his residence.
On 28 August, when the Ambassador arrived, posters calling on all Overseas
Chinese to cooperate with the Burmese people and to make all-out efforts
to wipe out the last vestiges of the Kuomingtang regime were conspicuously
displayed. Anti.,-Communist posters condemning the CDL(B) and deploring the
arrival of the Ambassador were also In evi-jence.**
. On the sane day the Boon liwa press in Rengoon publicly burned 60,000 copies
of text books prescribed by the Kuorningtang Gcvernment for instruction
in Chinese schools.
