14, General Mihai Ro nescu was arrested and executed without trial on
7 August 19502
2 On this day,, General Romanescu left Bucharest to visit the IAR aviation
factory in Brasov. Shortly after his arrival in Brasov he was arrested
and, after a short interrogation, was taken to the outskirts of the city
end shot. It is reported that General Rom nescu was accused of organizing
r. large espionage network, Gheorghe Polizu was arrested and sentenced to
death on the charge that he as involved in Fors.: uiescu" s activities,
