Eurico Gaspar Dutra is preparing to turn over his o"face to the Vice President,
Nereu Ramos, prior to the expiration of his term. Dutra allegedly plans to
leave the countr,r for a vacation in Europe, accompanied by an old 11'riend whose
identity is unknowan.
Dutra is said to be relinquishing his post because he believes that Getulio
Vargas will. rin the Presidential election, and Dutra does not +,rtsh to be
!resent when Vargas assumes o$'fice. Partido Social DAmocratino ("SD) leaders
are concerned over Dutral s plans, fearing that to they become public '.cno7rledge
