This dock appeared to be in excellent condition and superior to most docks found in Norwegian ports. Its equipment comprised thirteen ]j ton cranes. Two legs of each crane ran on a track on the dock, while the other two legs ran on a track which was mounted on a long warehouse on the dock. These were electrically driven and had a 3604 working radius. There were two other cranes situated on this dock, one of 3-ton capacity, the other of 5-ton . Three lines of broad-gauge railroad tracks ran onto this dock. Several ware- houses, one of conereto,were seen, In addition, a new warehouse appeared to be under construction. Nearby was a loadiriE platform. b. Rotterdam dock. The equipment of this dock comprised four l -.-ton cranes which ran on tracks set flush with the pavement, c. India dock. Though the equipment of this dock did not include cranes, a grain elevator, a copra oil tank, a copra mill, and a cold storage plant were noted. LD d. United States dock. This dock was equipped with fifteen 3-ton cranes mounted on rails in the same way as those on the Polish dock. In addition, there were three large warehouses of concrete construction, and three railroad tracks built into the dock. e. Czechoslovakian dock? This dock had four 3-ton cranes and one line of railroad track. f, Rumanian dock, This dock, baldly destroyed during the Saar, has been r?ebuilt? No cranes or warehouses were seen, however. 2. There was little activity in the harbor, and almost none in the shipyards or naval yards, Ships observed in the port wore the TARIFA (Norwegian), the VIN(u I 3D and AG11d1QLII (Swedish), and the former OREGON EXPRESS (now Polish). 3.
