3. K. T. Shah, President of the United Trade Union Congress and member of the
Constituent Assembly, has drafted a program for a United Leftist opposition
in Parliament. All leftists, including the Narain Socialists and the CPI
are supporting this draft. They are holding a conference in New, Delhi on
5-7 August to discuss the draft and the possibility of a merger of all
leftist parties before the general election in India.

Urinal Kanti Bose, General Secretary of the United Trade Union Congress
(UTUC), and member of the General Council of United -Socialists, and R. S.
Ruike , head of the United Socialist Organization, refused a request by
S. A. Range to observe 30 July 1950 as "Hands off Korea bay." S. A. Lange
is Secretary General of the All India Trade Union Congress.
Bose and Ruiker, however, agreed to support a program of leftist unity with
the Communist Party of India (CPI), if Dange would make a public declara-
tion that the OPI will not try to dominate the other organizations. Bose
believes it likely that Dange will make this statement.
