The invoBtigators disclosed that the operations of the tong members
which number approximately 10,400 Chinese, range from extortion to murder.
The hatchet men' of the association are also accused by the relatives of
some of the ring's victims to have employed 'sadistic' methods, reminiscent
of the 'brutal modes of torture' practiced in their country.
It was further learned that the gang members 'for appearance sake' have
organized themselves into four musical association, However, during the
