One of the most important youth organizers is Chairoel Saleh, trained by SHIMITSU Hitoshi in 1943.44 in the Seinendan (Japanese fascist youth organization). He became chief of. propaganda for the Seinendan and the Barisan Pe'r in 1944-45. In 1945-46 he helped organize the youths of the Indonesian Republic. In July 1946 he was arrested for participating in the attempted coup d'etat and jailed for a short time. He was seen at Kadipaten in Cheribon early in 1948. 2. Angkatan Pemoeda Indonesia (API) was organized by the Communist, D.N. Aidit? B t n a avia in October 1945. Aidit served as chariman and had an offensive force of of 500 youths armed with pistols, carbines and hand grenades. The commissary of this organization at Batavia is S. Roesiat Mangoenwigata. Commandant of the troop in rural Batavia is Lt, colonel Soetan Akbar, In the territory of the Indonesian Republic mere are still about 2,500 middle school and college students enrolled in this organization, which is nationalistic. Hassan Soemarso 00 Tandjong Prick Leader: Ngadikoen This nationalized scout movement consists of some 1,500 Indonesian boys and girls in occupied Batavia, who are still subject to the supervision of the Indonesian Republic's Ministry of Education. A branch of this organization has been organized in Bogor by Roesdi, who is acting chairman. Leaders are SoRikin and Doemadi. The Polisie Angkatan Moeda, Police Youth dorps, of Jogjakarta was organized by the Japanese lateiin 1944 in Batavia and at that time was called Polisie Matjan, Police Tiger Corps. In august 1945 it was reorganized and called Polisie Angkatan Moeda, with the members serving as a sort of Gestapo in the rank$ and file# of the urban and rural police in Batavia. In the fall of 1945 they served as Soekarno's body guard in Batavia. Instructors at that time included M. Soetan Koko, deputy chief commissioner of the city police of Batavia during the Japanese occupation, and Radon Sosro Danoekoesoema, first class police commissioner during the same perioilt. Angkatan Moeda Obat dan Tjandoe, Medicine and Opium Service Youth Corps, is a Batavia organization. This organization looted all the available medicine stooks of the Public General Hospital in Batavia in 1942. ZO, SO Ping Lien was given practically all of the stocks of the PAPA by Dr, I. van Beuren, who worked for Professor Sato from 1942 to 1944, Professor Sato is SO Ping L.en's uncle. In 1945 SO Ping Lien looted the medicine stocks of the factory at Manggarai, Meester Cornelis, The loot was stored at Oude Tamarindelaan No. 40, where it was seized by the Field Security Branch of the Allied Forces in 1946. 30 Ping Lien was jailed but succeeded in bribing his way out with the aid of ANG Tjin That'. 8. The Angkatan Moeda Post Telephone and Telegraph Youth Corps (AIPTT) in Jogjakarta )his composed of men working for the PTT. Practically all of the 2,500 employees are members. On the 1st of August,at a meeting of the assembl of the 4' orking Committee of the Komite Nasional Indonesia Poesat(KRIP), Soendjoto of the Badan Telpon Indonesia and K. Werdojo of the Barisan Boeroeh Indonesia(Indonesian Labor Corps) demanded that the proclamation No. 5 of the Dewan Pertahanan Daera (State Defense Council), which deals with the postal, telegraph and telephone services, be revised to improve conditions for the PTT men, 9. The,Angkatan Moeda Minjak, Oil Youths's Corps, is composed of some 550 youths who guard the oil field and plant of the Bataafsche Petroleum Maatsohappij at Tjopoe. They are armed with rifles and pistols. 10. The Barisan Srikandi is a female espionage organization made up of Solo girls. There are about 100 Srikandis operating in occupied areas of Batavia, Bandoeng, Cheribon, Poerwokerto, Semarang, Soerabaya, Palembang, Padang and Medan, 11. The Angkatan Moeda Katholik Repoeblik Indonesia (AMKRI), Catholic Youths' Corps of the Indonesian Republic, is a Jogjakarta organization with a membership of about 500. The ?fficers- of the organization are: Chairman M.J. Soenardi Deputtr Chairman B.B. Kwari The Indonesian Catholic daily`Hidup{Life), published by the Unitas publishing company in Jogjakarta, is the organ of the AMKRI. The managing directors:a-rd.J?nhOhhnguanan and A. S, D jo josoepadmo. The editor is A. Soeprijo Djojosoepadmo and the assistant editor is R. Soekadjio. The AMKRI is affiliated with the Bandan Kongres Pemoedah Indonesia, Indonesian Youths' Congress Organization, which is a central organization of youth movements in the Indonesian Republic, 12. The Wanita Nasional Indonesia (WANI), j,,ddonesian Women Nationalists, is composed of about 500 young girls,who are daughters of officers and officials of the Indonesian Republic at Batavia. Miss Radio A.F.E. Djajadiningrat is chairman. 13, Alim Soetan Maha Besar is chairman of the Badan Pessbantoe Peladjar Indonesia, Indonesian Students' Scholarship Body, in Batavia. Besar is from Minangkabau. 14. The Kebaktihan Rakjat Indonesia Soelawesi (KRIS) has a membership of about 150 yout}who are under the command of A.E. Geroen an and are engaged in subversive activities against the Dutch. Comment. The Pesindoo is the armed youth force of the Partai Sosialis Indonesia. It consists of ten thousand. youths of both sexes at .Madioen, Kediri, Toeloeng-agoeng, Solo, Jogjakarta in territory of the Indonesian Republic, and in West Java in the environs of Soekaboemi, Batavia, Krawang rural areas, Cheribon rural areas, and in Bantam and Semarang. It is estimated that 60 percent of all available firearms in East Java are in the hands of the Pesindo. Of the remaining 40 percent, the Tenter& Nasional Indonesia probably has 25 percent and the Barisan Pemberontakan Rakjat Indonesia of Soetomo, 15 percent. The Marx House at Madioen is the central political training center of the Indonesian socialists in the Republic. Amir Sjarifoedin is the leader, Tjokronegoro the inspector general and Hindromahtono the trainer. The Pesindo is part of the fighting forces of the People's Democratic Front,.
