is available. At Panlamen it is possible to take a horse carriage for the con-
tinuation of the Journey. This sector is reasonably safe and few Communist
patrols are active in the area.
4. Between Panlamen and iluchiawopeng (122-10, 41-46) there is more patrol activity,
but the traveler is only casually Inspected.
5. From Huohiiwopeng to iisishan (122-05, 41-42) and from Reishan to Peiohen (121-44,
41-86) travel restrictions are more strict and all refugees are inspected by
officials of the Chinese Communist Government. From Feichen to Changhsingtien
(approximately 121-42, 41-28) inspection patrols are very active.
6. The sector between Changheingtien and Shihshanohan (121-82, 41-14) is free from
inspection patrols, with the exception of a check point at Shihohanohen. From
Shihshanchan to Chinchou is a comparatively safe zone and the traveler is not
mclested.
7. It is not safe to carry more than 9EC 200,000 dolers. Fountain pens, diaries,
and currency larger than NEC 500 dollar notes are confiscated.
8. NBC 3,000 dollars is adequate for one day's expenses, and 3EC 100.000 dollars
