It can easily be identified by the numerous breakwaters.. The bUldlngs are etween the shore and the railway line ruoaiag from Coa$taa a through ladle Gi and litmaia to Lacul Tasaul. 2. A branch line has been built from the Constants-3iuoe railway line, and a large loading ramp has been built. This branch is used only to Serve the seaplane base. 4. A amber of new breakwaters have been constructed, so that the base n M can accom?odate 25 to 27 lar;'e seaplanes at a time. There are four floating buoys equipped with powerful reflectors with rep' -.ights. The lighting equipment is controlled from land. 5. Opposite the breakwaters is a fuel depot which occupied an area of 80 by 110 motors and is surrounded by a barbed wire fence. There are four tanks, of 60 tons capacity each. The branch rail line runs to this depot. There are no motor pumps;, the fuel is. payed with hand pumps. . ~ ' 6. The buildings at the base consist of a two-story barracks, 85 by 100 meters, L-shapec a. hanger on the 25X1:r, 45 by 100 asters; an underground gasoline storage, 10 by 30 meters. There 10 also a target range with movable targets for ground troops and sea- planes. The hantr has an antenna on the roof and is lighted. There is no radar station. . The radio and D/ stations are in barracks. 7. A marine reconnaissance unit of about 160 son is stationed at the base. The men are all trained pilots who have had a course of training at the base. The training course is a year and a half. Besides flying practice, the pilots practice firing at ground targets. Air formations from Constants also come for practice at the target range. g activity by Soviet fliers has been observed.
