Observations: The T,4 ./85 tanks have been replaced with the new
86-ton T-54 which went into series production in 1956.
The number of reconnaissance aircraft has been increased from
two to three.
The 136-mm Katyusha rocket launcher has been replaced by the new
200-mm tracked piece (12 rounds).
The antiaircraft artillery has been reinforced with twin 57-mm
self-propelled antiaircraft guns.
The self-propelled artillery has a new 100-mm piece, the SU-100.
The strength of the division continues to be 10,300 men.

Note: Each division has three regiments (formerly 8 battalions)
and a 76-mm Mountain Artillery regiment.
Cavalry
The three Cavalry Divisions which were located at IASI, ALBA
IULIA., and DOROHOI have now been disbanded. There are now three
Cavalry Regiments, one at each of the three Army Corps Commands (IASI.,
BUCHAREST., and CLUJ Military Regions). Each Ca`al.ry Regiment has three
squadrons and a 57-mm Artillery unit. There is reportedly a so-called
Cavalry Division Command at ALBA IULIA to which the three Cavalry
Regiments are purportedly attached.
