1. The Niksic Steel Works are situated to the north of the Niks.ic-Titograd
main line approximately 8 kilometers southeast of Niksic. Preliminary
work on the construction of the plant was begun in 191.9 and, though' pro-
duction was begun in 1953, construction work was still proceeding in
1955. The workshops are all-steel structures. Other buildings, such as
offices, training school, workers' settlement, are mol'tly of masonry or

2. About 85 per cent of the equipment installed is of German origins the
remainder coming from the "Dragoslav Djordjevic-Gosa" Works at Smederevska
Palanka and the "Djuro Djakovic" Works at Slavonski Brod. The Works are
scheduled to turn out ST 37 and ST 52 (German DIN standards) steel, elec
steel, DIN steel alloys, cast and wrought iron, railway trucks. The plant;
however, has never worked to more than 30 per cent of its capacity due to
lack of raw materials and insufficient power

capacity until the Savnik hydro electric power station is completed.
