The harbor entrance which is 30 meters wide is closed with,bubys from 6 p.m. to 7 a,me or 8 a.m. PRrL3neL (Reference is made to Appendix A 25X1 The quay in Burgas is approximately 1500 meters long. Ships can tie up along the quay except near the fish market where the water is shallow. The water along the quay is five fathoms? deep, along the quay of the breakwater, three to five fathoms, and in the middle of the harbor, six fathoms. b. The natural and artificial quays have a base of stone and upper section of coi4orete. A curving quay is built along the coast line starting west of the custom house control building (location not specified) and continuing as far as the f'el depots (location not specified). Ships will be able to tie up to this quay. There are five warehouses in the harbor area. Three of these are old and about 30 x 20 meters, and two are new and about 20 x 15 meters in size. There are no silos in the port area. The electricity for lighting the port is generated by a diesel powered generating plant located on the eastern side of the harbor (see Appendix A). '9. There is a stationary crane of seven ton capacity located at the end of the quay along the breakwater. There are two 5-ton and two 10-ton cranes mounted on rails. All of these cranes are in working order. meter customs house A). Near the beginning of March a 2500 ton Soviet ship loaded a lead grey powder partly from the quay and partly from railroad cars drawn up beside the quay; 160 Eight 50-60 ton patrol boats were moored 25X1 to the western breakwater. None of them left the harbor from 4 February to 17 March because of ice flows and bad weather. ships currently tie up at the end of the quay along the eastern breakwater.
