indexes of the production of petroleum products in the USSR. Under the qualitative
indexes of production of petroleum products9 it is understood that different types
of petroleum aroducts produced in the Soviet Union will be analyzed. Thus, in
this paper give a breakdown of the production of basic types of petroleum
products in the different regions of the Soviet Union*
2. ShOK by regions the approximate amount of petroleum
50X1 processed on the spot in the regions where it was obtained and the amount of
petroleum sent for processing to petroleum refineries9 located in other regions
of the country* The data of production of petroleum products have been arranged9
for the sake of convenience9 in tables showing production by each separate petroleum-

production of basic petroleum products for the entire Soviet Union as avhole, by
years.

The petroleum processing industry is 'concentrated mostly in the areas of petroleum
production (Baku$ Apsheron). Approximate4 86% of the petroleum obtained is
processed on the spot, about 3% goes by sea to Gurev, and about 12% is sent to
factories in Batum.

In recent years petroleum processing plants have been built in Bashkirsk ASR and
in Saratov. Approximately 80% of petroleum is processed in refineries in the area
of origin. About 20% is shipped to other plants by the Volga across the Caspian
Sea to Makhachkala.

All of the petroleum is procesbed in the areas of origin in EMba. Aktyubinsk,
Gurev. Besides this, it should be pointed out that the Kazakh SSR is espeoially
important to the petroleum industry in that large quantities of high-grade aviation
50X1 oil are produced there, one of the factories producing this oil is
located in the town of Gurev.

for industrial pruposes in the raw stage without refining. It was proposed that
in the future this petroleum woul&be sent for refining to Fergana (Uzbek SSR) and
Krasnovodsk (Turkmen SSR). in 1952 the transportation of this
petroleum to the above places was already organized,
