Bernie,
We've had two calls from 6th Army
Liaison Officers at Sacramento State Hq of
State Military Forces offering to be of service
in providing support for General Walters' visit
on 5 May.
Col James Delk called on 15 April.
Captain Tom Rodman called 21 April. I told
Capt Rodman that General Walters did not need
any direct support from them, that he would be
staying in San Francisco and driving to Sacramento
the morning of the 5th. I said that due to the
expected large audience, we would have a security
man get in touch with the local forces. I said I
would also give our people Capt Rodman's phone
no. and perhaps they would touch base with him.
Col Delk & Capt Rodman are in same office.
Nancy

America's Bicentennial
(Written in 1975.for
America's 200th Anniversary)
America's bicentennial is approaching,
It brings patriotic pride.
If we read our moving,, history we know
That patriotism is justified.
Tho we know our country' is trot perfect
Still we'll stand beside /wi.
For she's just as good void just as had
As the men who wide her.
The colonis!s built a great democracy.
The greatest ever knotrn,
Made Old Glory with stars and stripes,
The most beautiful ever lion-n.
That elegant flag stands for our countr_r,
A country by freedom blest.
Then America opened her doors in pity
To the world's hungry, oppressed.
So, I pledge my allegiance to America,
A democracy supreme;
Here is freedom to worship as we please,
Freedom to plan and drecnn.
And here I'm a part of the government,
As I pass along life's road
I vote, serve in office or on the jury-
Help to carry the common load.
For this is ms? country, and it's my life,
It is my great concern;
For it"s here I work and here I rest,
This is where I earn.
God give me trisdorn to serve Irry country,
The great land of nor birth,
For A nierica's my hope, ins pride and jar?,
The greatest land on earth.

We Build.

[he top motto, We
Rnild, you can easily
recognize as our
KIwit 1111, In it xi In.
which was adopted by the Kiwanis Interna-
tional Board in 19?0 and announced as
being chosen "to distinguish its ntentbers
front the restless horde who, in these tittles
of reconstruction, are iconoclastic in their
tendencies, striving to pull down the exist-
ing order of things.
Next, our District theme, Build With the
Basics, is patterned after the principles that
made America such it grant and free nation.
I hose basic precepts of devotion to ( iod
and Nation, Fellowship with our fellow
citizens that made work for a common be-
lief more meaningful and service to coun-
try, state and community by every worthy
citizen for the common good.
Finally, Be a Builder With Me ... ifwe
are to retain a vision of greatness in
Kiwanis our focus must he on how far we
can progress toward our potential rather
than an agreed upon standard of normal
progress.
Each one contains the word B U i LD. We
as Kiwanians are dedicated to building Net-
ter communities, state, nation and world
through our programs of service. Kiwanis
is a group of men who are concerned about
youth and give of their tinge. energy and
money to help boys and girls grow into
responsible adults.
Webster's dictionary defines RE I I I)
as to establish, Increasc and strengthen.''
With one-half of this adntinistriitive year
now in the record hooks, our largest
BUILDING months are ahead of us.
NOW is the opportunity to introduce that
man into Kiwanis that you have consi-
dered: to sponsor and organize a new
Kiwanis Club in another area; and to
BUILD a new IKey ('lilt), Builders Club,
Circle K, or Keywanette for our youth.
Kiwanis life line is increased and
strengthened through new members and
new clubs. Will you join with me 1 O
