1. A new Communist front organization, Circulo de Estudios de ingenieros, Arqui-
tectos y Tecnicos (Engin ers', Architects? and Technicians' Study Group), has
been formed by the Communist Party of Chile.
2. The leaders of this organization are reported to be Enrique Kirberg Baltia.nok,
ex-member of the Central Committee of the Cbmrmunist Party and an electrical
engineer over the Banco Espanol on Calla Estado corner of Calls Pa,mon Nieto,
Santiago, and Sergio Volosky Hirochnck, former heed of the Jewish Communist
cell in Santiago and a civil engineer. Another active member is Communist
member Hugo Monreal Bello, an official of the Department of Public Works.
Guillermo Del Pedregal and Plorencio Oyarzun are honorary members of the new
organization.
3. The main aim of this group is the organization of periodic public meetings
at which the principal theme will be the American penetration of Chilean in-
dustry. Also in preparation is a special report reaerding the present'con-
dition of Chilean technicians which recomriends an anti-imperialist campaign
by the labor: roups in opposition to the alleged "invasion" of Chile by
foreign, and particularly American technicians. It is plannedto organize
these meetinp:s at the University of Chile, at Santiago theaters or at techni-
cal associations,
