had been dismissed from their jobs in B mia and Moravia but who are not con-
sidered undesirable in Slovakia.

1. A shortage of pur-:, glass used in research apparatus has been hampering chemical
research in Czechoslovtakia. Not only are basic raw materials in shcrt supply,,
but there is a dearth of catalytic agents (doprovodne ciste suroviny) p iahich can-
not '3e produced.
2 The lack of pure glass arises from the embargo rlaced by ?''e torn countries on
ra-r materials needed in the production of hinh quality r'lass. Present glass
test tubes and beakers contain traces of lead which shopz up i,rhen chemical
tests are being run. Inability to resist high tenparatures is another charac-
teristic of glass now beint produced in Czechoslova%ia by the Kavalirove
r'klarny at Sa.zava (051,k,D.61, the only rsa.kers of chemical mass in the country.
