Dear
STAT
STAT
Reading this article in the Sunday Evening Star I could not resist
of sending it to you though you may have read it also.
Mr,Hoover is-an excellent man for catching communists but his
department is just unsuited to do something against it.
First was Stalin the big menace. Now Kruschew and behind them X itww
Molotow and Gromyko who know the West and its strength and weakness-have
decided to follow more our way,now they are even a greater menace.
Now the Committee has asked 39 educators and writers, etc.,who were
never been able to do anything against Stalin to do something against
something far more delicate than Stalin.
Mr.Hoover said that we have to refocus our sights, but all these
fellows have always missed the ONLY invitation Mr.Marx invited them too,
tackling bommunism from a scientific point of view.
Nevermind what these fellows will write I bet my hat that Dunnewolt
and I can do better.Only we will not have the purse of Uncle Sam behind
us.On the other hand we may have millions of people interested in some-
thing which can prevent them from being vaporized and after all that is
some stimulant.Even for people who make a lot of money on communism.

Is World Peril rick, Boar'
A symposium released by the
House Committee on Un-Amer-
lean Activities yesterday warns
that the new Soviet campaign of
anti-Stalinism presents a men-
ace to the free world greater
than Stalinism itself.
The new Russian leaders, who
have denounced the dead dicta-
tor, were described as still pursu-
ing his goal of world domination
but by subtler methods-seeking
to lull, divide and undermine the
free nations.
The committee asked 39 edu-
cators, writers, veterans' organi-
zation leaders, labor union heads,
ex-Communists and others to
write their views on anti-Stalin-
ism and the recent 20th congress
of the Soviet Communist Party.

In a summation at the end of
the booklet, entitled "The Great
Pretense," J. Edgar Hoover, di-
rector of the Federal Bureau of
Investigation, said:
"When the Communist smirk
begins to change to a smile, as is
the case right now, we would be
well advised to refocus our sights.
Behind those changing spots, the
same bad blood still flows
through the leopard's veins."
In a foreword, Representative
Walter, Democrat of Pennsyl-
vania, chairman of the commit-
tee, said the Stalin purge is all
the more dangerous because of
the confusion and deceptions
which it engenders. ',
Three Major Conclusions
The committee said the writers
of the symposium stood together
on three major conclusions:
1. The current policy and tac-
tics of the Soviet Union present
the greatest?$anger ever to con-
front the West.
K-2.- The developments in the
Soviet Union are a reflection of
growing strength and confidence
rather than weakness.
