Further reference is made to the Departr~entfs sirgram A-335,
dated August 3, 1950 concerning closer coordination between the
"Voice of AmericaT~ and the American Forces Network programs.
The reference airgra~n has been discussed with the Department
of the Army and while there is no ob3ectian to a monitoring of
the VOA news file by AFN for the purposes of such guidance as AFN
away dasir? to cull from the file, the Department of the Arrgp
requests that in your discussions it be made clear that there is
in no way any compulsion for AFi3 to be guided by VOA broadcasts.
