Between 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on 1> September 1953, 43 MiG-15s, 3 single- engine aircraft with radial engines and I single-engine high-wing mono- plane were observed at Wiener Neustadt (0 48/X 34) airfield, No Pe-2s were seen at the field. There was a 2/10 to 7/10 overcast, visibility of about 40 kilometers,, a cloud base at an altitude of about 2000 meters and almost no wind. No air activity was conducted. Next to the inner runway localizing beacon (item 24) was a low brick. ba?.ildi ng, a wooden pole with a bundle of wires at the top, and a motor vehicle tram r with a glass turret shaped like a truncated cone. Five small gray crates were observed near the parked MiG-15s. Yw!est of the road sign board at Badener Strasse was a radio truck with an antenna mast', about 6 meters high, with a small cone-shaped antenna and with a disk at the upper end, 2. At Theresienfeld airfield, 1 I1-28 with. a diesssamb]e d. left wing was parked at the eastern side of the hangar, 1 cunves-covered M1G-15, 6 large gray boxes, each 1.5 x 2x2 rioters, and 40 small gray boxes were observed in front of the gates of this hangar. Objects is and 10 were occupied by per- sonnel wearing black-bordered blue epaulets. 3. The Nachrichten Kaserne apparently was still d. i;htly occupied by soldiers wearing black-bordered blue epaulets. No change was observed on the i irtillerie Kaserne. An antenna mast, about 8 meters high, which had a small cone-shaped antenna, replaced the previous rod antenna (item 22) at the northern side of t1-e barracks yard. The pyramid observed at the antennna consisted of.rods, about 1 cm in diameter which formed the lateral edges of a hexagon. The pyramid was about 50 cm high. Its baso was about 20 cm in diameter. The di& at the upper end of the antenna east had the same dia- meter as the base of the pyramid. The sides of the base of the pyramid were interconnected by thin wires. Coiynoon Wiener Neustedt airfield is occupied by a Soviet fighter division headquarters and two fighter red keyed to a sketch forwarded previously.
