I COu NTRY aa~ki3 4a`a K; ..REPORT NO._ 25X.1.A TOPIC_._ ui 25X1X EVALUATION---J 25X1 C DATE OF CONTEN DATE OBTAINED.., REFERENCES- PAGES 10 PLACE OBTAINED,. fATF PPPPApFr 3 ?' ne 1953 ENCLOSURES (no. & TYPE) SOURCE 25X1 25X1 to Between 24 April and 3 May, 1953, no air activity was observed at Wiener Neustadt (0 48/X 34) airfield. Between 9 a.m? and 11 a.m. on 3 May, the following aircraft were observed at the fields 27 MiG-15s,, 9.twin.jet planes, 5 single-engine low-wing monoplanes with radial engines, two-bladed propellers, long cabin roofs between the wings, retractable landing gears with single wheels at the shock-absorbing struts, single rudder assemblies and rounded wing tips, and 10 twin-engine planes with double rudder assemblies in front of the hangars on the east edge of the pyrotechnic plant4 Of the MIG.15a 23 were covered with tarpaulins and parked on the dispersal area between the airfield and the Woelleredorfer Strasse railroad stop, while the remaining 4 were parked west of the road sign on Badener Strasse0 28 A sentry wearing black-bordered blue epaulets was posted at the krtillerie Kaserne whose occupation apparently was unchanged. No change was observed at the radio 25X1 C installationo. The Nachrichten Kaserne which apparently was slightly occupied was guarded by soldiers wearing black-bordered blue epaulets. Six motor vehicles 25X1 C including tank truck were parked in the barracks yard, 25X1A C9arM2nte. Wiener Noustadt airfield was previously occupied by two fighter regiments. The Il-28s observed at the field since some time may be the bomber regiment which was possibly transferred from Zwoelfaxing to Wiener Neustadt0 This bomber regiment, formerly equipped with Pe-2s, was possibly :re-equipped with Il-28sn. The old tdin-engine planes with double rudder assazbl.ies, probably Pe-?2s$ which were observed for the first time in Wiener Neustadt in early April 1953 possibly represent the remainder of the old equipment of this bomber regiment. No 'definite conclusions can be drawn from the fact that 27 MiG-15s were mentioned in the present report while 63 MiG>15a were observed on 21 and 22 April 1953.
