Two al ,jor drives to persuade farmers in the vicinity of Troyanovo village (N 42-340 E 27-09) to join the agricultural cooperative were made after 19449 These were made in 1917 and 1950 respectively and each drive was accompanied by the levying of addi- tional taxes on the independent farmers. At the end of 1951, all but 50 or 60 of the 600 fatt,l1el5 In Tr ovo had joined the gooperatives The independent farmers still own 375 to 500 acres after having been obliged to turn over 750 to 1 000 acres to the State because they had be unable to pi theij taxes. This forfeited land is now cultivated by the State farm of Kamenovo gem which is near T ovo, and is administered by the T?S (Trudovo Posellena Bobetvenostj Land Development A ninietration) O scion of the Ministry of Agri- aulre. The cooperative owns appro .matelyr 8,000 acres (32 000 decares) of farm 3and and about 1?y acres of vi eyrards. The cooperative and the village were completely electrified in 1950, The cooperative has its an repair shop and a Recall flour milli it owns a tractor, a threshing machine, a binder, and a driill. Additional equip t including teams of ho es, is rented from the Kamonova machinery pool* The rental is paid in cash rather than with a share of the crop quota which would be 20 to 25 kilos for every decare sow, cultivated, and harvested.
