The Kiev Machine Tool Building Plant imeni Gor'kiy has completed the
manufacture of an experimental model of a six-spindle automatic lathe which
had been designed by engineers at the enterprise. Various parts made of bar
or pipe stock up to 65 millimeters in diameter can be machined on it. The
lathe has seven slides and other devices which make it possible to perform
up to 16 operations at the same time.
The plant has also perfected and produced an automatic of. original de-
sign which performs bending and heat treatment of moldboards for powerful
tractor p1o.rs. The automatic can put out four moldboards in 50 seconls. The
first group of these automatics has been manufactured for the Rostsel'mash
and Altaysel'mash plants and the Odessa Plant imeni Oktyabr'sksya Revolyutsiya.
APPROVE NEW VERTICAL DRILLING MACHINE FOR MTS -- Moscow, Izvestiya, 27 Nov 52
The Kursk Machinery Plant of the Ministry of Agriculture USSR has begun
production of new large vertical drilling machines which are intended for
machine repair workshops of MTS. A state commission has approved a group of
these machine tools. They will be shipped to MTS in Kurskaya and Orlovskaya
oblasts.

!,!any plants of the Belorussian SSR have been called upon to meet MTS needs
for tractor spare parts. However, the managerial personnel at certain indus-
trial enterprises are incomprehensibly remiss in this matter.

For example, an attitude of indifference toward the fulfillment of the
plan for manufacturing spare parts prevails at the Minsk Machine Tool Building
Plant imeni Voroshilov. Its managerial personnel underestimate the importance
of this assignment. At first, a shortage of metal was blamed. In July 1952,
Glavtyazhstankoprom (Main Administration of Heavy Machine Tool Building Industry)
allocated 13.6 tons of metals to the plant for the manufacture of spare parts
and the metal was delivered to the preparatory shop. However, nothing was done
in this line of production for 4 months. In December, under pressure of party
organs, manufacture of tractor spare parts was finally started, but is proceeding
very slowly. Of 2,000 items; only an few 1ozen have beer- produced.
Asked why the production of parts is lagging, Sokol'chik, chief of the pre-
paratory shop, replied that the saws in the shop are out of order, ar that be-
sideu, there is no time to make spare parts.
The plant has not yet begun to manufacture camshaft gears. Plant managerial
personnel refer to the unavailability of a die, although this die could have
been manufactured a long time ago.
The situation in regard to the production of spare parts is no better at
the Gomel' Machine Tool Building Plant imeni Kirov. Production of tractor parts
has not yet been started.
Local party and soviet organs must take decisive measures to end thin
stalemate in the very near future.
'ZE i MACHINE TOOLS FOR GES AND BEARING INDUSTRY -- Tbilisi, Zarya Vostoka,

The Lenirgiad Machine Tool Building Plant imeni Sverdlov has manufactured
several types of new he'.vy machine tools. At present, it is building a uniciue
machine tool for machining 20-ton hydroturbine parts for the Kuybyshev and
Stalingrad GES. In record tine, 10 days, the Lenstankolit Plant completed the
casting for this machine tool.
The Leningrad Machine Tool Building Plant Imeni Il'ica has completed work
on a group of machine tools for a high-duty automatic transfer machine line for
the ball-bearing industry.
on 22 November, the Novosibirsk Machine Tool Building Plant imeni XVI
parts'yezda completed an order for the Kuybyshev GES ahead of schedule. A
group of combination machine tools has been manufactured. Each machine tool
is a universal unit-type (agregatuyy) machine tool which performs eight pro-
duction operations such as turning, grinding, slotting, etc.

The Gor'kiy Milling Machine Plant recently shipped a group of new automatic
machine tools to enterprises of the Lithuanian SSR, as well as to Leningrad
and other cities.
