Status of Planning for SR-71 Reconnaissance over North Vietnam
1. Route has been selected by the JRC with community
coordination. The aircraft will make three passes over North
Vietnam covering all important segments of North Vietnam including
the DMZ, Panhandle, Mugia Pass, Hanoi/Haiphong and areas to the
north.
2. The earliest flight would be on Sunday. The SR-71
track will be concentrated primarily over North Vietnam, and it is
planned to fly a U-2 (OLYMPIC MEET) to cover areas and lines of
communication in Laos.
3. Community elements have coordinated their requirements
to assure that, when a mission flies, it will return the maximum
intelligence possible,
