Czarnecki gave 045 minute 25X1A briefing on relations between the Committee and the Executive and a general rundown on the operations of the Committee. 2. Received a call from Robert Boyer, House Foreign Affairs Committee staff, who told me that the Committee staff report on Indochina and drugs has been approved and is on its way to the printer. He said that the recommendations had been reworded but that the only substantive change was a recommendation to abolish the Cabinet Committee and to replace it with an individual heading up a separate board. Copies of the Committee report will be available next Thursday. has been 25X1A advised. 3. Talked to Jim Wilson, House Science and Astronautics Committee staff, and briefed him on a pending Soviet space mi s s ion. 4. Senator Birch Bayh (D., Ind.) visited the Agency this morning for. a briefing from Mr. Carver, SAVA, on the situation in Southeast Asia. Senator Bayh leaves tomorrow with a group of Senators from the Foreign Operations Subcommittee of the Senate Appropriations Committee. Mr. Carver reviewed the situation in Southeast Asia country by country and answered the Senator's questions. Before his departure I took the Senator on a quick tour of the Cuban Missile Crisis exhibit. He was very impressed with it and said he thought Senator Edward Kennedy (D., Mass. might be interested in seeing it.
