16. - JGO) Delivered a note from Bruce Clarke,
D/OSR, to Representative Sam Stratton's (D, , N. Y.) office and learned
that' the Representative is in the hospital and not expected to return for
several days.
17. JGO) Received a request from Mike Finley,
Inter-American Affairs Subcommittee staff, House Foreign Affair C -
mittee for a background briefing for Chairman Dante Fascell and Representative
Robert Steele (R. , Conn,) on the coup in Chile. Chairman Fascell plans
open hearings with the State Department as soon as possible and would
appreciate a backgrounder as soon as conditions have stabilized sufficiently.
Chairman Fascell had suggested possibly Monday or Tuesday afternoon,

18. JGO) Met briefly with Sam Maybry, Legislative
Assistant to Representative McFall (D. , Calif. ), and closed out the earlier
request for possible debriefing of the the Representative on his recent 25X1A
China trip. I told Maybry that Agency representatives had been in contact
with the State Department escort. Maybry asked that in the future we would
be certain to arrange such briefings through theF -1
