6.1 ~ GLC) On the basis of his request to the duty
officer on Saturday, I provided Ben Mandel, Senate Internal Security
Subcommittee staff, with copies of the Cuban list of participants at the
Tri-Continent Conference and the draft list compiled by the Agency.
After checking with , OCI, I advised Mandel he could use
the Cuban listing without attri ution to the Agency on the assumption that
it had been obtained through Subcommittee sources.
7. II- GLC) Following up on conversations between Mr.
R. V. Mrozinski, Aerospace Assistant of the National Aeronautics and
Space Council, and Mr. Brandwein, FMSAC, I contacted Mr. James
Gehrig, Senate Space Committee staff, and Mr. Charles Ducander, House
Space Committee staff, regarding an Intelligence Memorandum on the
Tyura Tam missile test center complex. Later in the day, I showed this
document, containing codeword material, to Mr. Gehrig who expressed
considerable interest in it and said he would like to show it to Committee
Chairman Anderson and Senator Margaret Chase Smith? at a later time. I
told Mr. Gehrig the document would be available for their perusal on request.
8. GLC) Handcarried to William Darden, Senate Armed
Services Committee staff, a letter from the Director to Chairman Hayden
concerning withdrawals from the reserve fund. I also provided Darden
with copies of the NEW YORK TIMES series on the Agency which he had
requested. In addition, I mentioned to Darden that Senator Margaret Chase
Smith had visited the Agency for breakfast last week adding that we considered
it a very worthwhile session.
