SIGNIFICANCE: THIS BRIEFING BOARD DEPICTS THE CONTINUING EFFORT BY THE NORTH VIETNAMESE TO MAINTAIN TRAFFICABILITY ON THEIR ROAD AND RAIL NETWORK DESPITE U.S. AIR ATTACKS, 2. LOCATION: THE NINH BINH RAILROAD AND HIGHWAY BRIDGE OVER SONG DAI IS LOCATED AT UTM XH032404 ON ROUTE 10 AT THE NORTH EDGE OF NINH BINH. 3. STRIKE DATA: STRIKE DATA REPORTS THAT THIS RAILROAD AND HIGHWAY BRIDGE WAS STRUCK ON 15 JUNE 1965 BY TWELVE US NAVY A-4C AIRCRAFT, SUPPORTED BY THIRTY-SIX ADDITIONAL AIRCRAFT. THE SOUTHERN THROUGH TRUSS-TYPE SPAN OF THE BRIDGE WAS DROPPED AS A RESULT OF THIS STRIKE, 4. REMARKS: RECONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY WAS OBSERVED ON THIS FOUR SPAN BRIDGE ON IN ADDITION, TWO PONTOON BRIDGES WERE NOTED NORTHWEST REVEALS THE NINH BINH RAILROAD AND HIGHWAY These notes have been prepared for briefing purposes only and should not be used for detailed analytical work.
