This Thursday, 5 July, we will take a few moments at the morning meeting to discuss possible items toC Strategic Report. For the purposes suggest that we look for those which comment in a significant way on one or more of the following issues: -- the US-Soviet military balance; -- the Sino-Soviet-US political triangle; -- Soviet efforts to drive a wedge between the US and its allies; East-West competition in the Third World for access to new materials of political and military influence. 2. Any event, anticipated event or trend that can be reasonablyl fit into one or more of these categories, and which has 9 ic for US national security should be considered as a candidate for the report. 3. Request you be prepared to discuss, and hopefully to contribateoitems to the next report on Thursday. Other comments and suggestions welcome.
