SUBJECT : "Alcoholism, A Supervisory Guide"
1. The Supervisory Guide published.on alcoholism by the
Department of the Navy has been the subject of discussions on
several occasions within the Committee on Alcohol of the Office of
Medical Services. It would seem that the position and approach are
sound, and as such, have pertinence of potential value to any
program which would be undertaken by this Agency. Insofar as the
Office of Medical Services' proposed program is concerned, many of
the points which have been made in this Guide would be of value in
any educational efforts which would be undertaken. In particular,
the utilization of sick leave for individuals who are pursuing a
recognized rehabilitation program could usefully be adopted into
any Medical Office program.
2. It is hoped that these points will be of value in preparing
your reply to the Director of Personnel concerning the Navy Guide.
