SUBJECT: CO9tinuation of CIA Project 5-49 during Fiscal year 1950
1. It is requested that an unvouchered funds project be approved
to cover miscellaneous expenses and advances incurred by the various
offices of the Executive for security or emergent purposes. Establish-
ment of this project would enable the Executive to approve miscellaneous
and petty cash expenses not to exceed a total of $500 for the fiscal
year 1950, thus relieving'the Director of Central Intelligence of
this detail. The project would include incidental expenses pertain-
ing to special handling of supplies and equipment, petty cash for
services and other petty miscellaneous expenses or advances necessary
for reasons of security or operational emergency. Prior written
approval of the Executive would be required in each case.
2. At the present time there are two outstanding advances which
are used as revolving funds:
One advance of $150.00 has been made to Services to
establish a petty cash revolving fund for purchase of
minor items of supplies not to exceed $10.00 for any
one item.. Receipts are obtained and reimbursement
claimed from vouchered funds to replenish the account.
The other advance has been made to in
the amount of $50.00. This advance u e a so as a
revolving fund. Advances are nade to enlisted personnel
and the fund is replenished when the advances are repaid
by the enlisted personnel.
It is requested that approval be given to the continuation of these
advances during the fiscal year 1950.
