DESCRIPTION AND SCOPE OF PROJECT
The Map Branch, OR{, recorumends that the U.S. GPO-S provide proof press
facilities, in order that the Reproduction Plant might fulfill the
requirements of the NIS program. For this it is necessary to provide
each of the several contributors with transparent plastic printings.
Also, the Map Branch is responsible for providing various combinations
on paper in both true and non-photographic colors. This is now done by
makeshift adjustments on an automatic offset press which result in
(a) Loss of time in adjusting the automatic offset press for paper and
plastic printing; (b) Intolerable waste of plastics; (c) Inability to
produce, certain desired results; (d) Loss of offset press for other
high..priority work of a type for which the automatic offset press is
