DESCRIPTION AND SCOPE OF PROJECT
Funds were provided to OSO for the fiscal year 1049 for the support of
the bran c ntrol and expenditure of. confidential
funds. B effective 1 January 1949, the
Confidenti nsferred from OSO and placed under
the Budget Office, CIA. Certain expenses, not chargeable to specific
covert projects or activities, will be incurred by the Confidential
Funds Branch through 30 June 1949, and for these no provision has
been made. Consequently, approval is requested of allocation of
confidential funds for these purposes in the following amounts, to
be deducted from the OSO errs, sfersp or from

SPECIAL PROVISIONS OR LIMITATIONS
The amounts above appear reasonable in the light of past experience. As
paragraph 10.5 of the Confidential Funds Regulations makes no provision
for approving officers in the administrative services, it is recommended
that the Chief Budget Officer and his Covert Deputy be designated as
approving officers for expenditure of these funds.
