SUBJECT : National Communications System (NCS) Standard Data
Elements and. Codes
1. Attached is a copy of the Preliminary Draft for Information
(PDI) of the NCS Task. 2-`+, subject as above, dated 8 October 1963.
As discussed with you, I believe your Staff is the appropriate com-
ponent to determine the Agency position in establishing an NCS stan-
dard on this subject.
2. The CIA Representative to the NCS,
will be asked to discuss and/or coordinate this Standard at an NCS
meeting in the future. Any comments, suggestions, or position you
STATINTL may have for prior to the NCS meeting should be addressed
to him through the Director of Communications, Attention; NCS Rep.
I will advise you when the next meeting of NCS Task 2-4 is scheduled
at which you or your representatives may desire to attend with
