SUBJECT . Reply to Support Cables
1. The other day my attention was called to a cable from
(IN 14949 dated 7 March 1957) This cable referred to two previous
cables (IN 44298 )dated 8 February 1957, and IT, 33666, dated 12 January
1957). All three cables concern.&ipport personnel for the
Station and the last one received stated that no reply had been
received to the two previous cables and further indicated that unless
certain vacancies were filled the field property accounting system
would rapidly deteriorate.
2. Since these cables carried a designation I asked
Logistics to check into the matter and advise me what action had been
taken and why we had not replied to the field. Attached is the infor-
mation Logistics gave me which I felt should be called to your personal
attention. I don't know what causes all these breakdowns and have no
desire to pin the })lame on anyone in particular, but do believe that
we must devise a system to ensure field requests for support are acted
on more promptly. If there is anything I can do to help improve this
situation I would appreciate your lett&ng me know.
