Approved For Relsdse 2001/08/15SEaRU78-04497A0Q 00010006-1 12 December 1966 MEMORANDUM FOR: Chief, Headquarters Training SUBJECT Senior Operations Seminar -- Status Report of Survey 1. On 7 December 66 I had a long phone conversation with who was pleased to learn that the survey of DDP officers in regard to subject seminar is proceeding apace. The matter of availability of personnel was raised and I noted particularly EUR's emphasis of this point. DDP/TRO agreed that scheduling the seminar as part of preparations for an overseas assignment made sense. He thought that two runnings a year, in winter and late spring, might be most useful. Incidentally, both the tone and content of DDP/TRO's remarks led me to believe that he was taking approval of the seminar for granted and was anxious to get on with concrete plans. 2. The first interviews conducted have been with SB, NE, and FE. 25X1A9a Also, as you know, we have briefed the staff echelon of EUR preparatory to contacts at the Branch level. was, as usual, 25X1A9a particularly cooperative and had some useful comments to offer in addition to identifying those other NE officers who should be contacted. So far I have 25X1A8a contacted Chief, who reacted very positively to the seminar idea. He strop 1 urged that the handling of Staff Agents be included in the course. suggested that I give a general 25X1A9a briefing to everyone attending the FE Division weekly staff meeting. This was a good first step, for now all the Branch chiefs have a chance to think about the matter before I contact them. Incidentally, AC/FE urged them to do their best with helpful suggestions.
