1. Reference (a) requests Staff and Division Chiefs to
submit a list of the type of purely logistical actions for which
it is anticipated that a special indicator could appropriately
be used. The Printing Services Division believes that matters
pertaining to field printing should not be included in a list of
such actions at this time.
2. Policy with respect to field printing is not completely
clarified at the present time. Therefore, cables that are
received on this subject usually require coordination with the
Area Divisions and other DD/P elements. It is also felt that
there are insufficient number of such cables at the present time
to warrant their inclusion, in the list of special indicators.
3. This Division anticipates further clarification of the
field printing situation in the near future. At such time as
cable traffic on matters pertaining to field printing can be
handled without involving undetermined policy questions the
Division will provide the inclusion of these cables in lists
of special indicators.
