Operatic' Course ? 1, In response to a requirement levied by the Deputy Director for Plans, a special version of tha-Seientific and Technical Opera- tions COUTS0 will be conducted for selected members of the FE Divi- sion beginning 4 May 1964. An osaential part of the above course is a series of field trips to various typical installations. The group will consist of 20-2$ rsons and it is planned to use one of our aircraft for trensportation'td Huntsville and Long Island. 2. Your assistance is requested in arranging for visits and briefings as indicated below: a. On IS May 1964: The U.S. Army Chemical Corps Resew Development Center at Fort Detrick, Frederick, Maryland. It I. sired that the group be briefed on the general plant layouttypical indicators of UW and CW *cavities, Anti-Personnel Agency, Anti-Crop Agents, Medical and Physical Defense, and Clandestine aspects of BW and CW. b. Os 21-22 May: The MASA George C. Marshall Space Flight Center, at Huntsville, Alabama. At this installation, it is desired that the group be given the sane tour and briefing given the members of the last Scientific and Technical Operations Course, on 1-2 Nov- ember 1961, which proved moat helpful. A copy of the schedule con- cerning that visit is attached. The group could arrive at the Hunts- ville Airport on the afternoon of. Wednesday, 20 May, in order that briefings might start promptly on the morning of the 21st. On 25-26 May: The Brookhaven National Laboratory, Long Island, New York. Here it is desired that the class be briefed on air cooled reactors and the construction and equipment and l-. lary thereto, with emphasis on those aspects of coastruction and operation which would assist the layman to recognize indicators which might accompany such activity. The group would arrive in Long island on the morning of 25 May and visit Brookhaven on 25 and 26 May and return to Washington on the afternoon of 76 May. 3, 1 afte the precise dates outlined above cannot be met any the 20th of May would be acceptable. 4. It would be most helpful if a nember of this office caul be put in direct contact with local representatives of the above agencies for making sore specific arrangements. S. All travel will be by Agency aircraft.
