Suggestion Initiated by Office of Research and Reports
SUGGESTION: The suggester designed a prototype Photographic Processing and
Projecting Kit for Intelligence Operations generally, and more specifically
for unsupported field collecting and reporting (see attached drawing).
EVALUATION: The Technical Services Staff supplied the following evaluation
to the Special Panel in recorimending that the suggestion be adopted for use:
""1. Suggestion No. 516 for the design and composition of a
Photographic Processing and Projection Kit (PPPK) has been con-
sidered by the various divisions of the Technical Services Staff
engaged in photographic research and development and photographic
operations. The consensus is that the PPPK idea is both technically
feasible and practical to put into use. The kit could prove very
useful to this Agency. Although its application would probably
apply only to a small percentage of the Agency's photographic
operations, in specific operations notably those carried on by
the area and staff divisions of DD/P, it could prove most valuable.
25X1A "2, of the Technical Services Staff
is presently engaged in a research project for the development of
such a kit. This project was initiated about the date that the
25X1A idea was suggested to the DD/P re resentativea by Chief D/GP. It
is quite probable that the TSS project evolved as a result
of discussions based on the idea presented in Suggestion No. 516.
"3. Since this represents a new "tool of the trade" for use by
intelligence officers, it is impossible'to indicate any definite
amount of savings. Moreover, although it is quite clear that
this will increase the efficiency of the Agency's intelligence
collection through photographic means, it is impossible for any of the
interested divisions of TSS to indicate a monetary value for such
increased efficiency."
RECOMMENDATION: The Special Panel recommended that an award of $100.00
and Certificate of Award be approved in keeping with the Scale of Awards
for suggestions with intangible benefits.
