MEMORANDUM FOR: Director of Personnel

Department of Defense Guards for CIA
Critical Installations During
1. The protection of CIA installations located in the Washington
area during wartime presents a problem of considerable significance
which has not been solved to date. In discussion with representatives
of the Military Personnel Division it was learned that the Department of
Defense has Ground Guard Forces available for such assignments
during important critical cris ees .
Z. Based on the above and in coordination with the Military
Personnel Division and the Office of Communications, the Office of
Security made a survey of this area, as indicated below, to determine
installation locations and number of guard forces required on a
Priority I basis.
