Approved For Release 2001/08/30 : CIA-RDP78-03087A000100020010-1 0 ? SEC 2 7 OCT 1966 MEMORANDUM FOR: Director of Training SUBJECT : Training Films 1. Attached are some comments, somewhat informal and already given to you in part orally, on certain films in use in the Office of Training. With regard to the four-part film on the DDI and the intelli- gence process and the film "Resume," I have given my views and recommendations orally to the head of your Intelligence School and to the head of the Orientation and Briefing faculty. I am not, however, giving this memorandum any distribution within OTR except to you. a. Use of the four-part film on the DDI and the intelligence process be discontinued, since the film is very much out of date on organizational structure and, more important, gives a mis- leading picture of how the DDI operates and intelligence is produced; b. use of the film "Resume" be discontinued, largely for the reasons given in a. above but also because I question the value in today's world of the clippings from old operational training films; and c. the film "The Academy Anonymous" not be used, as I understand was intended, for high-level non-Agency audiences unless the present sound-track commentary be changed to delete what seem to me unrealistic statements. F iardson The attached memo on certain training films was somewhat long in the typing--but I believe the comments remain valid.... I'm happy to note that the OBF did delete the DIE film parts from the most recent I.O. course, and I understand do not intend to use those particular parts in future 1.0. courses or in the CT orientation.
