Eleven transceivers were channalized this month. 2. All RT-49's received this month were rejected. Problems are mechanical, workmanship, and low power output. 3. Again, indications are that the SBE-2's will all be accepted within the next month. Twelve units have been accepted in- plant but not received by FTS yet . 4. The Electronic Technicians processed one hundred thirty-nine items of PTI equipment, thirty-nine items on job orders, five items on repair requests, and nine items on receiving vouchers. 2. Sixteen items of teletype equipment were processed on receiving vouchers and fifteen items on cargo vouchers. 3. Three 3 Circuit TTY Field Stations were wired and checked.. 4. A total of seventy-four PRC-10's were processed from C-5 stock to C-l stock. 5. The monetary value of the C-3 run has been reduced from X663,963-94 in April 1965 to $67,598.71 in 1966. ENGINEERING UNIT 1. The Bird Model 8251 (1,000 watt) 50 ohm termination was sub- stituted for the Bird Model 8201 (500 watt) on the Standard Test Equipment List. 2. A Test Procedure for the BS/D-48 was distributed for comments, and the procedure for the HG-48A was submitted for publication. 3. The ASR-100 Alignment Test Jig was received from and 25X1 A5a1 will be evaluated at FTS. L-. Discussions were held with Mr. in 25X1A5a1 reference to a carrying case for KY-3 boards. CALIBRATION UNIT Thirty-three pieces of test equipment were processed and re- turned to service. Two new items for the shop were checked, and one item for cargo was processed. MECHANICAL UNIT 1. Approximately ten individual projects were finished this month. Projects still to be finished are vacuum adapters, personnel planning board, and generator test set. 2. A battery charging accessory device to accomodate twenty-five TR/78 batteries was designed and constructed. POWER UNIT 1. Eight different power units were checked this month and fin- ished cranking modification on the Onan 25 KW units. 2. Routine check was performed on W.E.T.A. Tower power unit and Commo trucks. GENERAL CM MS 1. A general sprucing up of the bay area has been initiated and should be completed within two months. 2. Of the employees presently at FTS, four have just completed university courses, four are working on CREI at home, three are studying for tech exams in the evenings at FTS, and two are studying technical courses at home. Six people intend to enroll for university courses next fall. TSB SUPPLY 1. As of 26 June 1966 a total of since 1 July 1965. 257,985.00 has been expended 2. For the period 26 May 1966 through 26 June 1966 a total of $12,l.24.1O was expended on four requisitions consisting of 151 line items. Mr? assumed the duties as Chief of the Wire Unit on a o? une . 2. The I-'3 training program for three technicians who are assigned to the Electronic Unit was completed on the 24th of June. Five technicians are now ICf-3 trained. With eighty-five Kr-3 units operational in the Washington Area and more installations pending, this is a welcome addition. I. Wire Unit is Main Signal Center a. The preventive maintenance schedule for the month is current. b. Sixty-six selector magnet shields modification have been installed on teletype equipment in the Washington Area. This is slightly more than ten percent of the total to be modified. c. The low level keying test utilizing a specially modified numbering module with gold plated wiper switch contacts has been operating satisfactory for one month. We are satisfied that this solves the garbled numbering problems d. T.D.Y. Responded to two TDY re oasts from OC-AD to repair and service HW-19 equipment in 25X1 A6a service KW-7 equipment in t e 25X1 A6a 1) Installed two KW-7 circuits in the Signal Center Washington Terminal Section. This is the first step to. replace all of the HW-19A equipment in the Signal Center with IOW-7 equip- ment. 25X1A2g 2) A temporary ISR installation was placed in Room 3BOOl, Head uarters. Langley Signal Centers 1 Cryptographic Equipment 85 2 Teletype and Miscellaneous Equipment - 280 b. Outside Area Signal Centers TOTAL: 365 1 Cryptographic Equipment - 8 2 Teletype and. Miscellaneous Equipment - 10 TOTAL: 18 II. Electronic unit 1. Kr-3 Program a. We experienced a considerable amount of false ringing problems on the off premises KY-3 circuits during the early part of the month. A Telephone Company engineer was dispatched to Head- quarters on 14+ June and he apparently corrected the problem. No false ringing troubles have been reported since the above date. b. Installations Installed a Kr-3 with two desk set extensions in Room 3E1A, Headquarters. Relocations 1) Relocated a Kf-3 with two desk set extensions from Room 6B28 to Room 5G00, Headquarters. 2) Relocated a desk set in Room 6B13, Headquarters. CIA Cifax System The system has been trouble free this month. 3. DCI/SO Very-Nigh-Frequency Net No troubles were reported this month. 1+. Microwave a. Preventive maintenance of the complete microwave system was accomplished, b. The air-conditioner in the Headquarters Microwave Room has been repaired. c. No troubles were encountered this month. 5. HY-2/KG-l3 Headquarters/Saigon Secure Voice Circuit No troubles were reported during this reporting period. A total of one hundred and ninety-two hours was worked during this reporting period.
