A roved For Release 2000/08/27 : CIA-RDP78-0282OA000900010017-3 OPTIONAL M NO. 10 Memorandum : The Files DATE: 22 January 1963 SUBJECT: Facilities Inspection - 1. On 17 January a visit was made to Inc., to discuss the design of Log Periodic unconventional an- tennas with Chief, Engineer, was originally with and was very instrumental in the development of the original log periodic antennas. 2. The discussion with Mr. was centered upon the possibilities for developing unconventional log periodic an- tennas in the HF band. The attached picture and radiation curves illustrate an 1/8 wavelength log periodic antenna at 600 mc. The dimensions of this antenna are 6" in height and about 21" in length. The bandwidth and impedance character- istics are excellent. An antenna of this configuration at 3 me would be 56 feet in height and 196 feet in length. Not good for agent use, but interesting for base station use. 3. as given thought to and has done some calculating on one dimensional log periodic antennas. He feels a long wire log periodic is feasible and would be interested in designing such an antenna. 4. specializes in antennas and microwave equipment. OC-E has had no business with this company previously, but they should be considered for log periodic antenna development work in the event the require- ment arises.
