FOREIGN DELEGATIONS AT THE GPSU
2.1 st CONGRESS, JANUARY 1959
KHRUSHCHEV: "..,delegations from. Communist and
Workers' parties from 70 countries
have come to our Congress."
1. The following information is available as of 5 February
1959. Of the 64 countries listed below, it remains doubtful whether
Pakistan and Nicaragua sent delegates. If these two delegations
were present, there would still be six delegations not yet firmly
identified in KHRUSHCHEV's total count of 10, Certain possibili-
ties are suggested at the end of the listing.
2. Bloc CP's. All the Bloc CP's sent delegations. The
Yugoslavs have admitted that they did not receive an invitation.

read from the CP's of Cyprus, Portugal, Sudan, Turkey, Thailand,
Jordan, Luxembourg, Burma, and Malaya. There were no clear
indications that delegates from these CP's were actually present, but
at least some of them may have sent representatives. Delegates may
also have been present from CP's not reported on at all, such as
Egypt and the Philippines.
