Approved For ReIQU:6IfMFf8-00915R0001 0006000Ig The Third (Communist) International PERSONNEL Interim Report December 1, 1947 Approved For R P 8-009158000100060005-9 Mail Approved For Rohe P78-00915R000100060005-9 31 %. IN L= reliriina , . Not e This list of Comintern personnel is simply a roster, not a biographical register, and at the same time a personality index to the text (not appon- dices) of the previous paper, T he Third Cowuaunist Internati-,n, : Structure and Functins. It is confined to personnel, who have at one time or another hold positions in the headquarters or in the field organizations of the Executive Committee of the Third International, and to selected r erlb~rs of the Pr ofintorn, the International of Seamen and Harbor Workers, and the Young Communist International, In several cases ildividuals are included in the list because other facts (training in a Cora tern school or extended residence in the USSR) make it likely that they held Comintern assignments even though no additional positive evidence is available. The available material is far too limited to construct a complete list of all personnel who actually worked in the Comintern apparatus, especially in its clandestine agencies. The varying reliability, clarity, and exact- ness of the material are responsible for the following inadequacies of the list attached: a. Frequent absence of first names, b. Inability to distinguish cover-names from true nol:ies. c. Omissions of country of origin, d. Inconsistencies in thq spelling of foreign names. e. Frequent uncertainty as to exact assignment, or dates of assignment, The absence of adequate checking facilities accounts for the lack of infor- mation on the current status of the majority of personnel listed. This roster is accordingly highly tentative, and is subject to extensive correction, addition, and excision, Numbers appearing in round brackets immediately after the name entry in the first column rofor to the pages of the truc,iur_ o and Fun.cti_ ons study cited above, The following abbreviations are used in the text: CC - Central.
